Therapy

Selective Mutism Therapy

Selective Mutism (SM) therapy sessions are often held at the child’s home and/or school. Sessions may also occur at community locations as the child progresses through therapy. Treatment is evidence-based, focusing on increasing comfort with communication by developing social competencies, expanding pragmatic language, and facilitating voice initiation and vocal control. Speech therapy sessions for SM incorporate elements from the following treatment approaches: the ECHO program, social cognitive therapy, PCIT-SM (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism), and integrated behavioral therapy (including exposure-based intervention).

Social Communication Therapy

Social communication therapy is available for ages 3 and up. Through fun, engaging lessons and activities, we explore strategies for navigating the social world. Some of the concepts groups may cover include: steps of perspective taking, sharing space effectively with peers, working together as part of a group, planning and organizational skills, self-advocacy, flexible thinking and more.

Speech & Language Therapy

Speech therapy is available for toddlers, preschool and school-age children experiencing a range of communication challenges associated with: developmental language delay, mixed expressive and receptive language disorders, speech sound disorders, autism spectrum disorder, executive functioning challenges (i.e., organization, planning) and more. I provide evaluations for pediatric clients who are new to therapy or who have not had an evaluation in the last six months.
